Apple Ships MacBook Neo Without Charger in UK and EU

Apple launched the new MacBook Neo, and if you buy it in the UK or most EU countries, you will not get a power adapter in the box. Apple’s online store listings in markets such as Germany, France, Italy, and Spain show the charger as an optional add-on, so you need to pick one during checkout or buy it later if you do not already own a compatible adapter.

This is not a MacBook Neo-only change. Apple applies the same packaging approach to the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models sold in the UK and EU, and it started rolling out with the base 14-inch MacBook Pro last year.

Apple still includes a charging cable with every new MacBook worldwide, so you can charge right away if you already have a USB-C power adapter at home, at work, or in your bag. Apple says the MacBook Neo ships with USB-C charging, and it positions the Neo as a lower-cost Mac that targets students and first-time buyers.

In other regions, Apple continues to include a power adapter in the box. In the US, for example, reports say MacBook Neo ships with Apple’s 20W USB-C Power Adapter, while higher-end Macs like the 16-inch MacBook Pro ship with higher-wattage adapters.

In the box

  • MacBook Neo
  • USB-C Charge Cable (1.5m)
  • No power adapter on the UK and EU store pages during checkout

If you already own a USB-C laptop charger, you can use it, as long as it supports USB-C Power Delivery. Otherwise, add an adapter at checkout or buy one later from Apple’s accessories store.
