Meta Introduces Paid Instagram and Facebook Plans Starting at $3.99 Per Month

Meta has started rolling out new subscription plans for Facebook and Instagram, expanding its growing lineup of paid services alongside the newly announced WhatsApp Plus plan. The company says these subscriptions target users who want more customization, deeper audience insights, and extra tools for managing their social presence.

Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus both cost $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus costs $2.99 per month. Users will start seeing the subscription option directly inside the apps as the global rollout continues.

Instagram Plus focuses on Stories and profile customization

Instagram Plus adds several new features aimed at creators and heavy Instagram users who regularly post Stories and Reels. Subscribers can now see how many people rewatched their Stories, create unlimited Story audience lists beyond Close Friends, and extend Stories beyond the normal 24-hour limit.

The plan also includes tools that give users more control over visibility and engagement. Subscribers can preview Stories without appearing in the viewer list, search through Story viewers more easily, and publish posts directly to their profile without pushing them into followers’ feeds.

Meta also added cosmetic upgrades such as custom app icons, profile bio fonts, animated Super Heart reactions, and extra profile pins.

Facebook Plus offers similar upgrades

According to TechCrunch, Facebook Plus includes many of the same personalization and engagement tools available in Instagram Plus. Meta has not released the complete feature list yet, but the company says additional features will arrive over time.

Meta says these subscriptions do not replace Meta Verified, which still focuses on account verification, impersonation protection, and customer support benefits.

Meta expands into AI and business subscriptions

Meta also announced upcoming subscription tests under a broader “Meta One” branding. These include AI-focused plans with higher compute access and additional image and video generation features.

The company will also test advanced creator and business plans that include better analytics, stronger profile promotion tools, improved scheduling features, and expanded moderation access for teams managing accounts.

Meta is clearly pushing harder into subscriptions as it looks for new revenue sources beyond advertising, especially across apps that already have billions of active users worldwide.
