已注销Spotify has started testing a new feature called About the Song, which focuses on a simple idea. Give listeners more context about the music they are playing. The feature is now live in beta for select Premium users and appears directly inside the Now Playing view on mobile.
About the Song adds swipeable cards below the player. These cards share background details about the track you are listening to. That includes inspiration, meaning, and behind-the-scenes notes. Spotify summarizes this information from third-party publications, including Variety and TIME, and presents it in short, readable sections.
The feature is currently available in English for Premium subscribers in six countries. Those regions include the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. Spotify is rolling it out gradually, so not every eligible user will see it right away.
In its announcement, Spotify explained the thinking behind the feature in clear terms.
“Music fans know the feeling: A song stops you in your tracks, and you immediately want to know more,” the company said.
It added, “Understanding the craft and context behind a song can deepen your connection to the music you love.”
How to find About the Song on Spotify
If you already have access, finding the feature is easy.
- Open the Spotify app on iOS or Android
- Start playing a supported track
- Open the Now Playing view
- Scroll down to look for the About the Song card
- Swipe through the cards to read more about the track
Each card also includes thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons. Spotify uses this feedback to improve how the summaries work over time.
About the Song is still in beta, and Spotify has not shared a wider release timeline. For now, the feature offers a new way to explore music without leaving the app, keeping the focus on listening while adding useful context along the way.
